Preservation Best Practices

This project will produce an electronically publishable compendium of preservation projects at selected missions throughout the southwest United States and northern Mexico.  The goal is to provide descriptions of the “best practices” for maintenance and preservation of the cultural resources based on a set of predetermined criteria for materials and methods.  Also included will be models for institutional-community decision-making, funding sources, technical information access, project management issues, and discoveries, or “lessons learned.”  The project is part of the Missions Initiative program and continues partnerships between NPS, INAH Sonora, Cornerstones (New Mexico) and the University of Arizona Preservation Studies program.
